Interior designer Anne Carson tells Nicola Churchouse how the team behind Sansiri’s new luxury apartments brought Beaux-Arts to Bangkok’s famous Wireless Road

The understated opulence and craftsmanship of 98 Wireless quietly whispers luxury. In fact, standing outside on the tree-lined boulevard that the residential project takes its name from, you could be forgiven for thinking you were on the Upper East Side of Manhattan rather than in central Bangkok. Developed by Sansiri, the 25-storey building was designed in the grand Beaux-Arts architectural style that is famous to New York (think Grand Central Terminal with its crown mouldings, striking proportions, space and symmetry). And in true Beaux-Arts style, it is built from natural materials with a focus on traditional craftsmanship—solid white-oak herringbone floors, rare mahogany door panels, limestone facades and white marble slabs handpicked from a quarry in Italy.
