1 Shakes and shingles are made from split logs and look like timber tiles (the house shown left is clad in cedar shingles). Shingles tend to look neater than shakes, which have a more rustic appearance, and are usually made from Western Red Cedar. The timber frame system used here was supplied by Frame Technologies.
