1 Designed by Yard Architects with structural engineers Blue Engineering, this replacement side extension has a fully glazed roof with electrically opening rooflights for ventilation. To prevent the dining room from being overlooked by the neighbours’ upper windows, a series of openable oak louvres line the underside of the roof. A storage bench runs all the way around the dining room and a large pivot window can be fully opened to connect the space to the outside. 2 This side return extension by Neil Dusheiko Architects in North London features IDSystems’ innovative Vistaline slide & turn doors across the back and a lean-to glass roof that features a frameless glass-to-glass corner joint to connect it to the window below — maximising the amount of light that reaches the new open-plan…
