BEFORE Formerly a site that featured a ‘hot’ house (the heated greenhouse of a nearby Georgian property), Lu and Ralph had to contend with the listed status of a garden wall. DURING Planning restrictions relating to privacy meant the house could only show one storey above ground, so the masonry lower ground floor is cut into the slope. DURING A new tiered courtyard garden is constructed, using the same white bricks as those used to clad the walls of the lower storey. DURING The listed garden wall proved tricky in terms of access, but the project was completed without any damaging incidents.
