Raymond and Wendy Heighway lived and worked in Shropshire’s Clun Valley for two decades before deciding to sell their business and retire to a forever home. Keen to remain in the area, they began searching for the right property — one with a view. However, finding the perfect house in such a small village proved challenging.
After six months they spotted a rundown bungalow on a stunning plot that was coming to auction. “After seeing it, we were inspired to build something ourselves,” says Wendy. “We loved the elevated plot, which had views across fields and hills. The village was within walking distance, too.”
Raymond’s friend was also interested in the property, but he agreed not to bid until the couple hit their financial limit. Luckily, things went their way.…
