Here’s how to design a successful pantry to store your cupboard essentials within stylish storage and clever cabinetry

A pantry is often hidden out of sight, but that doesn’t mean you should leave design and accessibility at the door. A well-organised pantry – whether a walk-in or the cupboard variety – will make storing and finding food and kitchen supplies so much easier, so it pays to plan and design a space that has a place for everything. “Pantries and walk-in larders have seen a huge resurgence recently,” says Graeme Smith, head of retail and commercial design at Life Kitchens. “There are so many iterations and designs available, both in terms of styles (traditional or contemporary) as well as in size.” So where can you put a pantry in an existing home? A dark cupboard under the stairs, a garage ripe for renovation or an awkward corner cupboard…
