Builders lack knowledge of alternative heating systems
The government has committed to installing 600,000 heat pumps in homes by 2028, in an attempt to lower the UK’s carbon emissions. However, Heatpumps London has revealed that the UK currently has just 412 heat pumps per 100,000 people. FixRadio, the national radio station dedicated to tradespeople, has pinpointed that a lack of knowledge in the industry is a “significant obstacle” to rolling out low-carbon heating systems.
According to new findings from energy provider E.ON, 56% of builders admit they don’t have the knowledge to advise on heat pumps, with 44% confessing they wouldn’t recommend heat pumps to customers, simply because they’re unaware of their benefits. In fact, builders are more comfortable talking to customers about building materials being out of stock (46%)…
