It often seems like living on site during a renovation can save money, but Rob and Emma have found that being underfoot as work proceeds can be a false economy. “For us, moving out and renting was essential,” says Emma. “When you’re living on site during a project it can take over and become all-consuming, so it’s good to have some distance.
