Octopus Energy launches world-first solar donation trial Octopus Energy has launched a pioneering donation trial to aid those who are facing fuel poverty. The world-first scheme, known as Octopus Solar Sharing, invites households with surplus solar energy to donate the value of their excess energy to fuel poverty charity, National Energy Action (NEA) or the Octo Assist fund — a £30 million pot dedicated to helping Octopus customers in need. For every kilowatt-hour donated, Octopus will contribute 15p directly to the chosen organisation. To further boost the rollout of home solar, Octopus is also offering eligible customers free solar and battery installations, as part of the Warm Home Discount (WHD) scheme.
