If the First World War was the birth of tanks, the Second World War was the birth of tank killers. Used in high numbers by the Wehrmacht and Red Army (but not so much by the Allied powers). A field gun attached to a tank chassis would create a mobile heavy gun and an infantry support weapon in the field of battle. The SU-76M was the successor to the original SU-76 and was mass-produced by the USSR in an attempt to defeat the Panzers that were advancing ever eastwards. Production began in December 1942 and they became a triumph of Soviet handiwork.
