NEW THREE-WAY STANDMOUNTS FROM TAD

Japanese speaker marque TAD has unveiled the ME1TX for its Evolution series. Priced £17,500 in Black or Silver White finishes, the ME1TX has been developed by chief engineer Toru Nagatani and features ‘hundreds of improvements’ over the 2016-era ME1. A compact three-way speaker measuring 411x254x402mm (hwd), it combines a 25mm beryllium tweeter and 90mm magnesium alloy midrange in its proprietary Coherent Source Transducer. Bass (to 420Hz) is handled by a 160mm multi-layered aramid composite cone. The ME1TX’s braced MDF cabinet is strengthened by 5mm-thick steel panels on each side – these also integrate TAD’s ‘Aero-Dynamic Slot’ port technology. Colour-matched stands are £2995.
