He’s been here for five weeks now, encamped on the Caribbean island of Montserrat where Duran Duran are attempting to create their third album, Seven And The Ragged Tiger. They’re recording at Air, the studio owned by George Martin. It’s swelteringly hot, with a hurricane imminent, and John Taylor’s in his Speedos, greeting us on the steps of Air’s main building, a white stone ranch, set like a pearl between palm trees. Just over there we glimpse the swimming pool as the tree frogs – a delicacy we have just been warned to avoid – are throatily tuning up for their evening chorus.
