THE VOLVO F7 – A POSTED HISTORY

The F7 had a very short shelf life, but that did not mean its research and development was a drain on Volvo’s resources. For a start, the engine was already in use in the venerable F86/87 design and had also appeared in the N7 bonneted range in 1973. The cab was also a shared effort; it was the famous Club of Four cab designed in conjunction with DAF, Saviem and Magirus Deutz and first appeared in 1975. It had first been used by Volvo in that year on the F4 and F6 models from 5½-13 tonnes GVW.
