In the early 1980s, Morco Specialty Advertising Products in northwestern Pennsylvania was manufacturing the “Economiser” for fuel-efficiency-conscious drivers and was offering it to companies as a logoed promotional item. Its purpose was to provide a quick-and-easy method for owners to determine their car’s fuel mileage at each fill up. It appears to have been marketed circa mid-20th century, was made of white plastic, and came with an elastic strap to attach it to the sun visor, so it was always handy. Of course, the myriad companies like STP that either sold or gave away this item to customers were pleased to have them see the logo every time they stopped for fuel and logged MPG.
