Long before the hit show Breaking Bad put Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the television map, the city was both a transportation hub and a home to racing legends. America’s First Family of Racing, the legendary Unsers, were tearing up local tracks in pursuit of speed, while early 20th-century steam engines got a tune up at the massive rail yards in the state’s largest city. Today the Unsers are celebrated at an eponymous museum, and the now-defunct rail yards showcase New Mexico transportation history.
