A charming mid-century bungalow is given a stylish upgrade by interior designer and Haven columnist Mary-Ellen Hinton. Gone are the poky rooms with awkward, cramped layouts, and in their place, light-filled open-plan spaces are the hero of this modern design story. Who lives here? A busy family of five, with children aged from eight to 13. Where is it? Near the beach in Narrow Neck, on Auckland’s North Shore. What was the house like pre-renovation?
