Mehr als ein Museum schuf Architekt Josep Lluís Sert im Auftrag der Kunsthändlerund -sammler Marguerite und Aimé Maeght in einem Pinienwald. Eher gleicht die Anlage einem provenzalischen Künstlerdorf, an dessen Planung tatsächlich Miró und andere beteiligt waren. Die Ausstellungsfläche der privaten Kunststiftung erweiterten jetzt Silvio d'Ascia Architecture durch Räume unter dem Giacometti-Hof und in einer angrenzenden Galerie.
