LOUNGING AROUND her Manhattan apartment, she chats on the phone while casually getting dressed. She goes out with an artist friend. They drop by his place before swinging by a bodega and stopping to talk to some men on the street on their way to lunch. They sit down at a coffee shop in NoLIta, where she produces a bottle of hot sauce from her bag, which she places on the table next to her cell phone and reaches for between bites to add some heat to a plate of rice and beans. Next, they make their way up to Electric Lady, the Greenwich Village recording studio Jimi Hendrix made famous, so she can lay down some vocals for her forthcoming album.
