On Bringing VOICES Together

November is one of my favorite issues to put together. It always feels personal to me, in part because it’s my anniversary issue; this one will mark four years for me at Harper’s Bazaar. But this issue is also special because it feels like an alchemy of everything we do: bringing disparate and urgent voices that deserve to be heard in dialogue together. Our Voices issue is anchored by a conversation between our cover star, Kendrick Lamar, who was photographed by Quentin De Briey and styled by our style director at large, Carlos Nazario, and SZA. How lucky are we to be able to hear from two of our most talented artists and truth tellers, opening up about the power of vulnerability, childhood wounds, and what “Not Like Us” really means?…
