MEMORY LANE I have done thousands of shows, and I have so many amazing memories. Working with Alexander McQueen (3)—he was a great creator and collaborator. His aesthetic of women was kind of different, and some people found it quite an affront to beauty. FILM FANTASY I found Paris Is Burning (6) really inspiring—those kids in New York creating their own fantasies. What inspires me about beauty is when it feels that there is a representation of the person; it doesn’t matter how extreme it is or how strange that beauty or hairstyle might be. TOOL BOX I love a bobby pin (9) because it’s so adaptable. I always have a Mason Pearson brush (5) and a rattail comb in my kit. A Mason Pearson brush makes the hair feel luxurious. MEOW FACTOR…
