For nearly A CENTURY, the SPEEDY has gone the EXTRA MILE In 1930, Gaston-Louis Vuitton felt the need for speed. The automobile and transit industries were focused on making planes, trains, and cars move faster than ever, leading to an increasingly intrepid clientele and the desire for Vuitton’s Express bag, a carryall made for travel. In 1959, the brand changed the name to Speedy and updated it with supple Monogram canvas. In 1965, Audrey Hepburn commissioned a smaller version—and, voilà, the Speedy 25 (named for its length in centimeters) officially entered the spotlight, becoming one of fashion’s first It bags.
