Three iconic guns turn 150 and the Texas Rangers mark 200 years of service

How many of you realize that 2023 is an important year in Old West history? Well, this year marks the 150th anniversary of the Colt Single Action Army revolver, the Winchester Model 1873 lever-action rifle and the Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield rifle. The .45 Colt, .44 WCF (.44-40) and the .45-70 Govt cartridges were also introduced and chambered in the aforementioned firearms. In recognition of this anniversary, there is a feature article in this issue covering these three important guns that were instrumental in the winning of the West. This year also marks the bicentennial of the Texas Rangers.
