6.5X55 SWEDISH MAUSER

Developed jointly by Norway and Sweden in 1894, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser was adopted by both countries as standard military ammunition. Originally, essentially identical ammunition was loaded and used in both countries, but later the Swedes modified its size and increased the operating pressures for use in Krag rifles. In 1990, the national industry associations of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden agreed to standardize the size and technical specifications, renaming the cartridge to 6.5x55 Skan. It is a rather popular cartridge throughout Scandinavia for hunting all types of game, including moose.
