Since some years, Australian government authorities have been among the most hostile to the legal possession of guns by citizens. Despite the bombastic proclamations and the questionable regulatory projects implemented, neither the central government nor the peripheral administrations had come anywhere close to what is being discussed in the West Australian Parliament in recent weeks. The reform of the legislation on guns under discussion, in fact, has as its objective the introduction of a limit to the maximum number of guns that can be possessed by each citizen, set at five, with the possibility of extending this limit up to 10 only in exceptional and well motivated cases.
