The needs of the many cannot be ignored After a deluge of scary headlines about the cost of living, few expected the new Government’s financial response to be so, well, disastrous. Reacting to the ‘mini-budget', the pound plunged, exacerbating inflation and forcing the Bank of England to declare a planned rise in interest rates, making mortgages even more costly. While Truss’s team defended its £45bn tax cuts, experts like the International Monetary Fund warn it will ‘likely increase inequality’. The public require those in power to recognise the hardships we’re facing and the need for financial support. They must represent our needs - as they were elected to do.…
