Carlo Ubbiali, grand petit homme

Carlo Ubbiali est mort des suites du Covid-19 le 2 juin 2020. Il avait 90 ans. Dans l’Histoire des GP, il fut le premier pilote à dominer outrageusement les catégories 125 et 250. Né en 1929 à Bergame, il participa à la toute première saison des championnats du monde de vitesse en 1949. Il termina 4e en 125 avec 13 points. L’année suivante, il gagne son premier GP 125 en Ulster devant son compatriote Bruno Ruffo en 2 h 08 min et 8 centièmes. Une course qui ne comptait que trois partants, et deux pilotes à l’arrivée!
