Triste nouvelle, l’Italien Fausto Gresini a perdu la bataille face au Covid-19. Hospitalisé le 24 décembre 2020 à Imola, il est décédé le 23 février 2021 à 60 ans. Double champion du monde 125 en 1985 et 87 sur les twins 2-temps italiens Garelli, il comptait 47 podiums, dont 21 victoires et 17 pole positions. Après avoir raccroché le cuir fin 94, Fausto monte son team en 1997 avec Alex Barros et des Honda compétition-client NSR 500 V2. En 1999, faute de budget, il redescend en 250 pour faire rouler son ex-coéquipier Loris Capirossi, qui termine troisième.
