AROUND OUR TABLE By Sara Forte, Hardie Grant Books, $55 Sara Forte is a prominent Californian food writer whose celebrity success with the likes of Oprah and Rachel Ray is founded on her debut cookbook The Sprouted Kitchen, which is also the name of her cooking blog. Her recipes are characterised as “vegetable forward” but, while gluten- and dairy-free veg and vegan dishes are her (ahem!) forte, chicken Parmesan meatballs and Italian turkey burgers sit happily alongside Mexican Caesar Brussels with cornbread crispies, cauliflower tikka masala and sweet potato cinnamon rolls. Aside from the actual recipes, Around Our Table is also about making entertaining easy, whether it’s versatile “heavy-lifting” sauces for multiple different dishes (pesto, harissa, vinaigrette) or seasonal swaps and dietary substitutions as well as make-ahead meals that travel well and…
