Something is happening on Darkinjung land on the New South Wales Central Coast. Over the railway line from the colonial town of Wyong, just south of the Wyong River, lie the Central Coast Wetlands. The site of the Coast’s largest dairy farm for the best part of a century, the 155 hectares of lakes and waterways are now a mecca for birdwatchers who come to observe the ducks, pelicans, black swans, parrots and rare regent honeyeaters that flock there. And, not far from the historic Pioneer Dairy, you’ll find birds of a different feather: the people of SWAMP, or Sustainable Wetlands Agricultural Makers Project.
