Geographically speaking, Wights Mountain, near the Samford Valley northwest of Brisbane, is a long way from Africa, but its subtropical climate must jog some memories. For Taryn, those memories are of the vast spaces and wonderfully designed gardens that were part of the family homes in her native Africa. She remembers her grandparents, who were award-winning orchid growers, beavering away in their gardens, creating beautiful landscapes for all to enjoy. It was something she tried to recreate some 16 years ago when she and Russ bought their first home in England. It was a small garden, but it allowed her to experiment, understand the immense gardening landscape and, most of all, she says, find joy.
