NO PLACE LIKE HOMESTEAD

Surrounded by native peppermint and paperbark trees, the place we call “Holmer Homestead” is a secluded property in Dardanup West with six paddocks, a dam covered in exotic pink lilies, landscaped gardens, abundant bushland, cheeky wildlife and plenty of drinkable bore water. Dardanup is a thriving community of wineries and art trails in fertile, picturesque Ferguson Valley, 15 minutes from Bunbury. In my late 20s I got to know Dardanup as a resident of Our Lady of Lourdes Convent, where life consisted of early-morning rounds of worship, farm chores and reading. We now own a piece of Dardanup history not far from the convent. The locals call us Farmer Pieter and Farmer Jana. We have nearly 70 vegie beds, 10m of blueberries and mature fruit trees dotted around the property, including 20 macadamias…
