A worm tower is essentially an in-garden worm farm that allows the compost worms and their nutrients to interact directly with the surrounding garden bed. It consists of a vertical pipe with holes drilled in it, half-buried in a garden bed. Simple stuff. You place a bunch of compost worms inside the pipe and periodically feed them handfuls of organic matter such as kitchen scraps, leaf litter and weeds. The worms eat the lot, converting that organic matter into rich worm poo and worm juice. This leaches out of the pipe holes and into the surrounding garden, bringing increased soil moisture, microbiology and fertility, which, in turn, takes any garden bed from average yield to gloriously abundant.
