A DIY vegie tower is a great way to accelerate the production of berries, herbs and suitable vegies — for example, snow peas. Our vegie tower recycles water and nutrients while occupying minimal space on a balcony or even in a sunny kitchen. It can be created for less than $100, a fraction of the cost of commercial options. The approach is not dissimilar to hydroponics but requires less maintenance. Many hydroponics systems require the water and nutrients to be changed daily and they all need regular monitoring. This system maintains its water quality through the high flow of water creating oxygen in the system, thereby allowing nutrient-rich water to be recycled for extended periods — weeks, even.
