There are lots and lots of beautiful plants for your garden but some are delightful, deadset knockouts. Growing any of these shrubs is sure to elicit exclamations of “Wow!” when they’re in bloom. BOTTLEBRUSH ‘KINGS PARK SPECIAL’, CALLISTEMON ‘KINGS PARK SPECIAL’ Bottlebrushes are iconic native plants with mainly red bottlebrush-shaped flowers, although some have white, pink or mauve blooms. All look spectacular in bloom but ‘Kings Park Special’, named after Perth’s botanic garden, has big and very red flowers from mid-spring to summer on dense, slightly weeping growth. Grow as a single shrub or plant several as a hedge to 3m high. Growing conditions: Bottlebrush grows in temperate to subtropical climates in well-drained soil. Frost tolerant.
