If your preference is for buying Australian made whenever possible, what’s your policy on purchasing fowls? Interesting and sensational-looking breeds abound but there are two with Aussie roots that have lots more to offer. The Australorp and Australian Langshan were bred in Australia and can justifiably claim to have put eggs on the tables of huge numbers of Aussie families for much of the 20th century. Most people will be familiar with the Australorp and include it on their wish list when thinking about poultry. The Langshan, however, may be relatively unknown. Though long overshadowed by the Australorp, in a side-by-side comparison it’s by far the more economical and productive choice.
