Paludariums have many advantages over terrariums. Terrariums often have poor airflow, encouraging the presence of destructive moulds which affect plant health, as well as insufficient light, lack of humidity or too much humidity. Conversely, paludariums have open tops for airflow, a body of water and, optionally, a humidifying system to keep the moisture levels just right. If you’re lucky, the old aquarium you use may already have an overhead light; otherwise, buy one online for about $40 for a 90cm tank.
