As people seek a healthier lifestyle, often a first step is to cut back on caffeine — or even give it up completely and imbibe a caffeine-free herbal infusion. While there are plenty of herbal teabags and leaf teas available to buy, anyone with a garden can grow their own. Herbal teas, or tisanes, are infusions of leaves, stems or occasionally roots, flowers or fruit. The herbal part can be fresh or dry before it’s infused in boiling water, strained and poured into your cup. By growing your own, you are not only assured of a fresh and organic hot drink, you’ll also be saving money. Prepackaged herbal teas aren’t cheap!
