Since leaving the Smashing Pumpkins in the fall of 2023, virtuoso guitarist—and vinyl lover—Jeff Schroeder has kept a low profile.
He’s popped up on a few guest spots here and there, but for the most part, it’s been a matter of wait-and-see. But that changed with the August 2024 release of Metanoia, Schroeder’s ambient guitar odyssey, also serving as his proper solo debut.
It’s a far cry from the alt-leaning soundscapes he helped create with the Pumpkins, but then again, given the dissonance in that music, Metanoia makes all the sense in the world.
He tells Goldmine that he not only had the album mixed and mastered with vinyl in mind but that the resurgent format has buoyed his fortunes as an independent artist. “For someone like me,” he says.…
