ADAM ANT Inspired by the Sex Pistols, London native Stuart Goddard became Adam Ant and formed Adam & The Ants in 1977. The band released their debut album, Dirk Wears White Sox, in 1979. The band’s songs “Stand and Deliver” and “Prince Charming” went to the top of the U.K. singles chart, while “Antmusic” reached No. 2 on the chart. Ant went solo in 1982 with the Friend or Foe album, which included the hit single “Goody Two Shoes,” the song that helped to give him mainstream success in America. At one point, Ant had eight simultaneous singles in the U.K. Top 40.
