About a decade before guitar legend Johnny Marr dove into a career as a solo artist in earnest, he formed the band The Healers and released the band’s sole album, Boomslang, in 2003. In addition to Marr on guitar and lead vocals, The Healers included drummer Zak Starkey and bassist Alonza Bevan. They were augmented by percussionist Liz Bonney, synth player Lee Spencer and guitarist Adam Gray. This year sees the release of a Special Edition of the remastered Boomslang album that includes seven tracks that were not included on the original release. Among the tracks on the original release, “Down on the Corner” is the standout. It’s got acoustic guitar in the opening with a nice Marr lead vocal and understated electric guitar before the rest of the band…
