With the exception of Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, no female artist ranks higher in the Americana pantheon than Lucinda Williams. That’s hardly an exaggeration; given a career that stretches back some 45 years, the widespread acclaim accorded such seminal works as her eponymous third album (which yielded her oft-covered “Passionate Kisses”), Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, Sweet Old World, Essence, This Sweet Old World and her latest, the tellingly titled Stories From a Rock n Roll Heart, based on her memoir of the same name.
