THE RETURN OF THE U.S. BEATLES ALBUMS

On February 15, 1964, Meet The Beatles! became the group’s first No. 1 album in the U.S., topping Billboard’s albums chart. It kicked off a remarkable run of chart success that year as Beatlemania swept the country. For the rest of the year, there was at least one Beatles album in the Billboard Top 10 — sometimes two albums, and on occasion even three, and the story was much the same on the magazine’s Hot 100 singles chart (on April 4, the group’s singles held the top five places on that chart). Meet The Beatles! was followed by The Beatles’ Second Album, the A Hard Day’s Night soundtrack, Something New, The Beatles’ Story and Beatles ’65.
