Down-&-out Fricker’s lonely hermit life

AFTER winning an Oscar and later starring in an iconic Christmas flick, Irish-born actress Brenda Fricker plunged into suicidal depression and now says she’s living like a recluse and “broke.” “I lived off my savings while they lasted, but now I'm completely broke,” says the 79-year-old actress. Her tragic fall is a far cry from 1990, when she nabbed the Best Supporting Actress Oscar playing the mom of Daniel Day-Lewis in My Left Foot. She also appeared as the homeless woman in Home Alone 2. Ironically, she says she’s now home alone: “I live a very quiet life well under the radar and I drive a tiny car, own a cottage, that’s about it. Talking to the wall quite a bit, talking to the dog, writing poetry, reading books, watching television. Nothing different…
