THE youngest mayor in the history of Bogalusa, La., has been arrested and charged with being a big shot in a drug-trafficking organization that also played fast and loose with firearms and prostitutes, according to the state’s Police Narcotics/Violent Crime Task Force.
Tyrin Truong — who was 23 when he was elected in 2022 — is out on bail after being charged with using drug money to buy and distribute guns, including to shady characters, and with soliciting for prostitutes and swiping other people’s property without permission.
The case is especially sensitive, state health officials say, because there were 2,456 drug-involved deaths in Louisiana in 2023.
