PULP Fiction’s Ving Rhames comes out swinging as a tough ex-boxing champ who trains a female fighter, played by Luise Grossmann, in Uppercut. The sports thriller is German director Torsten Ruether’s punched-up English-language remake of his 2021 low-budget debut, Leberhaken. Ruether says Rhames, 65, and Grossmann, 29, had great chemistry during the crew’s whirlwind nine-day shoot in L.A. “There was so much material with Ving—and it was all so good,” the filmmaker gushes.
