TIDY AND CLEAN POTS AND TRAYS

It’s always good to start getting ready for spring now!

Spring may seem a long way off, but when it arrives there’s much to do. That’s why it’s so important to get ready early. I’m not the best at storing and cleaning pots and trays after planting. They tend to just get piled in trays and put in the shed! But these really do need cleaning before they’re used in spring. Without being cleaned they can harbour diseases, which attack young seedlings, especially as they germinate in the warmth of the propagator. There will also be slugs and snails hiding among them and these need to be removed. Weed seeds are another big issue because they’ll remain dormant until you fill the trays with moist compost, and then they’ll germinate and be a real nuisance in spring, or could be confused with…
