What could be more American than wetting a line inside a national park? Grilling the fish you caught in a fire ring at a national park campground, that’s what. And when you add the delighted squeals of your sunburned children and the adoring glances of your sleep-deprived spouse, you get bonus Dad Points for the rest of the year. The West is defined by its aspirational landscapes, and none are as regal or as celebrated as our national parks, which are decidedly off-limits to hunting but mainly welcome and accommodate anglers.
