September is to hunting as April is to baseball or December is to skiing. This is where it all begins. Optimism for what’s ahead abounds as seasons for big game (deer and bear) and small game (grouse and rabbits) get underway. But don’t overlook fishing this month, either. As temperatures begin to drop and waters cool, fishing action can become about as good as it gets for some species.
