THE FALL LAKE TURNOVER PRESENTS UNIQUE CHALLENGES FOR BASS ANGLERS. HERE’S HOW TO OVERCOME THEM.

Many anglers are familiar with the term “fall turnover,” but not everyone knows what it means. However, understanding turnover is a key to successful fall bass fishing. Basically, when a lake turns over the lower layer of the lake, which has cooler water, mixes with the upper, warmer layer of the lake. All of this happens in a relatively short amount of time—typically about a week—and in some scenarios you may periodically see small bubbles come from the bottom of the lake all the way to the surface. Regulars at a given lake will develop their own opinions about what happens during the turnover, and many times blame tough fishing conditions or fish kills on it.
