MOST BASS ANGLERS ONLY RELY ON JERKBAITS WHEN THE WATER IS COLD. THAT’S A MISTAKE.

Almost every serious bass fisherman has a jerkbait rigged up at all times during fall, winter and early spring. And while the cold-weather months are indeed the predominant time to fish a jerkbait for bass, these hard baits are a great lure choice and presentation for both largemouth and smallmouth bass during the late-spring and summer months, too. Immediately following the spawn, bass tend to enter a post-spawn funk. A great way to get them to bite is by working a jerkbait in front of them, as even a lethargic bass has a hard time resisting the action and subtle pause of a jerkbait. Target these bass in areas adjacent to the recently vacated spawning flats. Main-lake and secondary points offer key staging locations for bass as they begin to feed again.…
